What Is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy?
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a practical talk therapy, it helps improve wellbeing by exploring how our thoughts, emotions and behaviours are connected. It is recommended by the NHS in the treatment of many disorders such as Anxiety, Depression, Complex Grief and Low Self-Esteem.
During your sessions you will work collaboratively with your therapist to adapt unhelpful thoughts, develop improved coping strategies, and build emotional strength. CBT is not a quick fix, it requires active participation and commitment, including homework between sessions.
CBT focuses on achieving specific goals within a set timeframe. The number of sessions required will vary on an individual basis however a minimum of 6 are recommended. The knowledge and skills you learn last a life time and will give you an essential tool kit to deal with future life challenges.
What to Expect
It starts with a free 15min video consultation. This gives you an opportunity to ask any questions and get a sense wether I am the right therapist for you. Please note all sessions are offered online.
The first step in an initial 90min consultation during which a clinical assessment will be carried out which allows us to identify what is going on and set your therapeutic goals.
During the rest of your sessions we will get curious about your thoughts and behaviours to understand how they impact and how to make changes.
At your last session we will reflect on the life skills you have learned and make a plan on how to not only use them but build on them for the future.
